Q: How I do Add ( ) a style of an item to numbers

Hi,

i've finally found a little time to sit down and play with the spiffy new 'Numbers' which was recently released.

I\m updated to: 3.0.1 (1483)

It's working great and looks good (Brill job Apple!)

I'm a little confised as to how I add my own styles? A good example is as follows:

1) Start a new document with the Blank Template

2) make a minor tweak, say to the initial color of the heading cells

3) click on the bulls-eye (top left of every table to select it)

4) in ( + ) in the Format Pane of the Inspector despite following Apples Instrucitons here: https://help.apple.com/numbers/mac/3.0/#/tan2ba523e09

I've tried all 3 explanations in there, that is as explained under the "Create", "Organise" and "Replace" sections. None of which seems to apply here at all.

Furthermore, In terms of templates, the only way I can see to add them is via "Save as Template" which I don't mind, but what's happened to the templates folder which used to be in ~/Library/Application Support/iWork ? I've got a bunch of really handy templates which a colleague popped over to me, but it seems rather counter productive to selectively  open each one and save indicvidually as template :-/

Can someone point me to something, somewhere which either explains how to, or as to why not this is possible? It's be a horrid shame if Nombers was less flexible. i got all enthused by the new bright and cheerful interface!

Another thing which I've used in the past, isn't a biggie, is when for example, in a particular column, if I enter in several values repeatedly, they used to auto-suggest something as I was typing, is there a way to turn this on at all?

Cheers,

Adrian (Merry Christmas and Happy Newyear if you only read this after then!)

    Hi Adrian,

Glad you like the new Numbers.

Question 1, Table styles. You are right, it doesn't work. Perhaps Custom Style does not apply to tables. I use templates to store my custom tables. Copy and paste as many times as needed for a new document.

Question 2, Templates. The templates from your colleague probably exist as documents. The only way I know  to get them to behave as templates is to open one at a time and Save As Template. Or if you open one and want to keep the original intact, Menu > File > option key > Save As.. before you edit.

~/Library/Application Support/iWork holds the Numbers '09 templates. The My Templates folder in Numbers 3 is well hidden. Normally no need to find it as you can rename or delete custom templates in Template Chooser (right click on a template).

Question 3, auto suggest (Auto-complete text in cells) has gone but is coming back.

What has been lost in Numbers 3 is here (with corrections where Apple has already reinstated some lost features in the Numbers 3.0.1 update):

Do not delete Numbers '09. You might need it for when you need a feature that Numbers 3 has lost. It lives in Application folder > iWork '09.

    Ian.
