Q: Where is "WiFi diagnostic" in Mavericks

Can't find "WiFi" diagnostics program in Mavericks. Instead there is another program called "Wireless Diagnostics" which doesn't seem to be as useful since it's not user friendly.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

This tool exists in ML 10.8.5 in /System/Library/CoreServices. The graphical version has been removed from Mavericks - or it is hidden somewhere I haven't found yet. It remains as a terminal invoked command at the following location:

    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resource s/airport

Your Wi-Fi should be on before using it. Run it once without arguments to get help. User friendly optional.

click the wifi icon on the menu bar with the Option key pressed. On the bottom of the list, you have "Open Wireless Diagnostics..."

They just moved it to here:

    /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications

Collected alongside some other diagnostic tools now, Raid Utility and Network Utility. It's not quite the same as it was in the past.  Once you start the app and are staring down the wizard, in the menu bar you probably want "Window" -> "Utilities" to bring up the graph with signal and noise info.

Thanks ctzn99 ... your tip helped me to find the real-time network performance graph that I was looking for.

After knowing where to look, the shortest path I found to the network performance real-time monitoring graph on my MacBook Air that is running OSX Mavericks is:

    1. Hold down the "option" key and select the wireless icon from the main menu bar.

    2. Choose the "Open Wireless Diagnostics" menu item.

    3. After entering your computer's password, you will see the "Wireless Diagnostics" window with the "Introduction" paragraph.

    4. You may ignore the "Continue" button.

    5. From the main menu, choose Window -> Utilities.

    6. You may optionally close the "Wireless Diagnostics" menu at this time if you choose.

    7. In the "Utilities" window, select the "Performance" tab for a real-time view of your network performance.

Forget Apple diagnostic, get "Wifi Explorer" from the App store. Superior in all respects.
