We have no idea because we are just users. However, with such a common issue Apple should (and does) launch a worldwide replacement program for Macs. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you anything else

Just because your MBP exhibits a problem similar to one addressed several years ago does not mean that the cause is the same. When there's a solution, you'll read about it.

Of course you are right carl, didn't mean to imply the issue was the same, but in my case and in the countless others now posted, it is in fact the graphics chip, probably the discreet AMD failure. I was simply stating I hope Apple steps up like they did on the previous nvidia issue, hopefully before another class action is instigated.
