I lost my iphone 4, locked it remotely from the find my phone app on my ipad. I found the phone, but lost the code to unlock it. How can I unlock my phone or recover my code?

Impossible. IOS is safe!
You don't. What you need to do is connect the phone to iTunes and then restore it as new and if you do this, you can then reset the unlock code.
