I use Mavericks 10.9.1. What is the proper procedure to navigate to the following .plist files?
1. "Macintosh HD/Library/QuickLook/iWork.qlgenerator/Contents/Resources/DateTimeFormats/"
2. "Mac Companion/FROM "HARD DISK: June 14, 2013/Library/Preferences/"
Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Volumes/ as the path, and then paste in the ones you posted above without the quotes.
Do you mean something like this?:
/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/QuickLook/iWork.qlgenerator/Contents/Resources/DateTimeFormats/ and
/Volumes/Mac Companion/FROM "HARD DISK: June 14, 2013/Library/Preferences/
The folder can't be found. Enclosed please picture of technique I used.
Open the 'FROM HARD DISK' item manually, delete everything prior to June in the path, and use the Go to Folder command with the remainder of it.
By using the "Go to the folder:" I get:
Then I reach the "DateTimeFormats" Folder. Should I now "move to the trash" the entire "DateTimeFormats" Folder and empty the Trash?
Move it to the desktop and see if it breaks anything. If not, you can if you want.
By going to the "DateTimeFormats" Folder, I get the entire DTF Folder. See Picture 2.
I don't see a "QuickLook/iWork/qlgenerator/Contents/Resources/, just the DateTimeFolder. I can now move to Trash and Empty Trash. Do I have to Restart?
No, you don't need to restart.
I'll now empty the Trash. Thank you very much, Niel, for your patience and diligence in assisting me in this effort!!
