Dec 27, 2013 7:05 AM in response to AudManby FrVentura,The problem is with the plugin 2.0. Apple just needs to launch a new endnote plugin for it to work correctly. Please, iWork team, just work in a new plugin that can work with endnote. It's crucial for most of us!

Jan 2, 2014 5:28 AM in response to AudManby EvanJudd,I'm having the same problem: Pages 5.0 does not work well with Endnote. No custom citation formats are available, and the bibliography has incorrect numbering (for example: two distinct references labeled number 16, missing reference 4, etc). The Plugin 2.0 seems like a tempory workaround – at least I hope this is just temporary.

Jan 20, 2014 9:13 AM in response to Duane Garrettby antjek,A friend of mine uses Word with Endnote and hasn't had any problems other than the standard issues with large documents and long bibliographies. It seems ridiculous that Apple would send out a new version of Pages that has much less functionality for real users. I mean, cool, I can use it on my ipad but I'd rather it WORK.

Jan 20, 2014 10:32 AM in response to antjekby PeterBreis0807,…and make a feature of it supposedly working in their advertising, despite the publishers of EndNote themselves saying it doesn't.

Jan 20, 2014 10:42 AM in response to Duane Garrettby antjek,I just downloaded the trial of Nisus and it does not seem to support Endnote cite while you write either! I just spend $150 to upgrade my Endnote and ALL my research is stored in it, so I refuse to just start with a new program. I'm starting to think that Word is the only way to go....

Jan 20, 2014 10:48 AM in response to AudManby EvanJudd,Just to let you know, if you use the iWork '09 version of pages, EndNote works fine. Although, I also paid ~$100 to upgrade Endnote, specifically so I could use Endnote with Pages 5.0. Unfortunate, but I can't wait on Apple to fix this.

Jan 20, 2014 11:32 AM in response to EvanJuddby Ucsdshao,I agree. I had switched back to Microsoft Word. I called Apple several times over this issue. It seems they do not care about Academic users. Their priority is to make the apps work for both Mac and iOS. The merge of these two systems will take place soon, or at least being designed by Job from the "iCloud".

Jan 20, 2014 12:57 PM in response to Ucsdshaoby PowerPages,I moved to Latex and my endnote library (1200 items with 800 scans) is now in bibtex. Export works perfectly.
I use nice package in www.edition-open-access.de

Jan 22, 2014 8:19 PM in response to AudManby kikoteixeira,I never complain but this time Apple really did it. Half of my Page documents have no figures because I used to insert figures inside tables to make placement easier. EndNote doesn't work. Besides all the problems people have recited here I can't get custom styles to display in Pages. While you are at it please fix MathType too!!!

Jan 22, 2014 9:35 PM in response to kikoteixeiraby PeterBreis0807,Do the obvious.
Don't put up with the bugs and 100 missing features.
Use Pages '09 it should be in your Applications/iWork folder.

If only it were that simple! Once you've opened a document and "upgraded" it to Pages 5 it won't let you open it in the older version. At least it won't when I've tried. This is a huge problem that Apple is going to have to fix. The least they could do would be to work it out that we could simply go back to using Pages '09.

Jan 23, 2014 8:52 AM in response to antjekby Ucsdshao,if you have not delete Pages 09, it was moved to a folder called Iwork. So, you can still use it through this folder.

Jan 23, 2014 11:55 AM in response to PeterBreis0807by PowerPages,How can somebody here seriously suggest to professionals to use an old software. Apple will never work on '09 anymore. Each new file or text you prepare in '09 is like a zombie. '09 exists to have the time to switch your works in progress to another platform or to the new Pages if its limited functions are enough for the project. We are not supposed to start any new project with "09.

Jan 23, 2014 12:28 PM in response to PowerPagesby PeterBreis0807,How can anyone here recommend professionals use the severely crippled Pages 5?
Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5:
What Apple did with the previous file format, without notice, they will do all over again with the Pages 5 format.
Probably also without notice, because they do the same thing over and over again, and don't talk about it, pretending nobody notices.
Unfortunately they are mostly right. I pine for the days when Mac users used be able to actually think, and usually for themselves.
The difference now is the bloated, obscure and impenetrable new file format will mean you will never be able to get your content out without Pages 5. Which only runs on very limited hardware, software and servers.
