Q: How to dictate on Mac like an iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4S, and use the dictation feature for 'Notes', Youtube, Web searches, etc.

So, when I got a Mac a month ago, I expected dication to be integrated in, like the iPhone.

How can I get free/cheap dictation capability?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), brand new 8Gb a5 mac

Looking at the OS X version you have, Dictation comes with that version. Open System Preferences > Dictation & Speech to enable it.

Then, whenever you want to dictate something, double-press the Fn key and talk. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5449

This is a free service. Then you have paid applications like Dragon Dictate for Mac, but for most users, Dictation is enough

"Enhanced Dictation" works like Dictation, but you do not need an Internet connection. As you do not need an Internet connection, it may be faster if your Internet connection is not good
