Q: Purchased and Downloaded content missing on App/Itunes Store

I recently bought a new iPad, but some items, including Music; Movies; Apps; and Books, did not download from the iCloud backup I used when starting my iPad. Then I decided to manually install all the Apps, Movies, etc. but I can't find them. If I search for the app that I purchased before on the App Store, the price is still there, so I'll have to purchase it again to download it.

This happened before on my computer. Does anybody know how to fix this?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.3

You are signed in with the same account that you bought them with, and you haven't changed countries since buying them ? And you've tried logging out and back into your account on your iPad ? What you can redownload for free will show in the Purchased tabs in the App Store and iTunes store apps, and the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app, on your iPad, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes.

Music, films and/or TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries (they will only show in the cloud for redownloading if you are, they are not included in a device's backup), and even if you are in a country where they can be redownloaded there is no guarantee that a particular film etc will remain in your country's store for redownloading.

I did switch countries actually. What should I do about that?

Between Canada and the United States.

Not much that you can do, as well as being tied to the account that bought them, content is also tied to the country that are bought in, so when you change countries the previous country's purchases will disappear from the Purchased links and you won't be able to re-download them. Do you have copies of your library on your computer's iTunes and/or on your backup of your downloads ?

No I do not have copies of it in my library. I thought that all iTunes information was kept online.

No, as I said downloads are tied to the account and the country - and you are only guaranteed one download of each time, even you remain in the same country there is no guarantee that any item will remain in the store for future redownloading.

If you have the items on your phone then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. For those items which aren't on your phone, and which are in your new country's store, you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
