Q: My daughter received a 5th generation iPod touch but it doesn't have a camera on the back side. Just the front does anyone know why? Thx

If it's only got one camera, it's not a 5th gen iPod Touch.

The 16gB model has one camera (front)

Seems it's more of an iPod Touch 4.5 than an iPod Touch 5.

We had the same problem - the packaging all says 5th generation and it fits the specs on the website for the 16GB. Nowhere in the website does it say that the lower GB model does not include the rear camera. My daughter had already gotten all of her music loaded up before we figure this out. Very disappointing for us as well!
