Q: No wifi network at the lake---can I hook up my iPad and air printer to a hot spot on my iPhone if I shut off the data on the iPad and thus have a network to print on or through,

No wifi network at the lake---can I hook up my iPad and air printer to the personal hot spot on my iPhone if I shut off the data on the iPad. Will that give me a network to print on or through?

    With iPhone tethering, your iPhone should provide a Wi-Fi network for both the iPad and AirPrint-ready printer to connect to. I have connected a 3rd generation iPad to this type of network but do not have an AirPrint printer available to verify that you can print from the iPad to it.
