Nov 14, 2013 6:17 PM in response to rsheldon27by judith214,rshedon and davidsh,
THANK YOU! Between the two of you...problem solved. All the while I thought I was having a problem because my iPhone was recently hacked (if that is the right term for it?), and I had to install a new sim card.
Who knew that so many people were having a problem after upgrading iTunes, and to make things more complicated, I just got a new Windows 8 PC. You two saved my sanity!

Nov 27, 2013 2:08 AM in response to SheaMcCuenby misssupermonty,Thanks - this has helped resolve my issue with my Iphone. However I've followed the same steps for my Ipod and it's still not working in Itunes. I get the message:
"An Ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. If problems persists, uninstall iTunes then install itunes again."
I actually cannot follow the steps as I do with my Iphone or Ipad as it comes up with the error message re the 64 bit not compatible.
Been doing this for days, have reinstalled itunes twice, followed the steps to update the driver as suggested by someone else and still not working.
It's great i've got my Iphone & Ipad working again but none of my Ipods will work still and keep getting the above message. So frustrating....

Your problem might not be your iTunes, older devises may sometimes have flawed firmware you should google the error code and you'll find a tutorial on how to reinstall u're iPod's firmware

Nov 29, 2013 8:42 PM in response to SheaMcCuenby robertssaunders,David SH advice did not work for me. Here's what did work. I have windows 8.1 and totally updated iTunes and iPhone 5 per Nov 28, 2013.
- Plug in iPhone
- Go to devices and printers in control panel
- Click on Iphone in devices window; see General and Hardware
- Go to Hardware tab; then click on the Apple iPhone in the list of devices
- See window called apple iphone properties – DO NOT go to the driver tab in this watindow.
- Instead, see small box at bottom of window that says “Change Settings”, click that
- Now see another window also called “…properties” and DO click the driver tab in this window
- Now you will see a live “update driver” option. Click that
- Now click “search for updates” option; i.e. Let windows search for and install an updated driver
That worked for me, iTunes now recognized my phone.
Under I followed David SH advice at first but I could not manually find the specific driver he was referring to. But when I let computer find and update driver it worked fine.

Dec 30, 2013 12:08 AM in response to SheaMcCuenby DJones2214,hey i tried to follow your steps ad it wasnt working for me. i dont see how your solution worked for so many people but when others tried it, it didnt work for them. what could we be doing wrong? im using a windows 8 machine and im running windows 8.1 and i did every step possible and when i plug in my device, when i look under device manager, the apple deivce doesnt show up like it shows in your picture u have posted. i dont see apple usb device anywhere. this is what i see when i pull down the universal serial bus controllers drop down menu, http://gyazo.com/c16ae40f85da12a25e13933ab6aab7f8
i even tried to look for the usbaapl64 file and i dont have it. i just see the normal usbaapl file. when i go to browse for that file and i click ok in the prompt box, this is the message i get,
http://gyazo.com/d1737f2ff2828799da604b84bb616067

Dec 30, 2013 12:47 AM in response to SheaMcCuenby lobre,I need help. I have lenovo t440s.
Problem 1
1) Itunes 11.1 can't recognize iphone. It recognizes only for 3 second. And then nothing
2) Iphone is charging only from 1 USB port. 2 others USB port is not working.
-
Jan 2, 2014 7:49 AM in response to davidsh_seattleby Keksz,It also work with Itunes 10.7.0.21
Thanks!
I had two issues, first that after Itunes started alerted me to upgrade itself, but the Itunes Store was not loading. The 2nd issue was that it couldnt recognize my iPhone.
First issue was fixed by starting the application (Itunes.exe) as Administrator.
The 2nd issue was fixed with the reinstallation of the Apple USB driver.
Thank you again for the suggestion!
