Dec 30, 2013 11:08 AM in response to grosenbergby Eric Root,Quit Calendar. Instead of signing out of iCloud, try unchecking the box to sync in iCloud preferences. Open Calendars and try to add the iCloud account. If successful, go back to iCloud preferences and reselect sync.

Dec 30, 2013 12:56 PM in response to Eric Rootby grosenberg,Thanks, Eric. Problem is that Calendars is unchecked in iCloud prefs. If I try to add it either from there, or from iCal, I get the spinning beach ball and have to force quit iCal (or system preferences). There's something really odd going on here!

Jan 2, 2014 9:56 AM in response to grosenbergby eebowan,I also have this a variant of this problem - everthing in iCloud syncs fine except calendars. When I check preferences to look at the accounts the calendar is unchecked. When I check the box the beach ball spins and the systems UNCHECKS the box.
Many other iCloud devices working fine with iCloud just my new iMac won't behave
Any thoughts anyone?

Jan 2, 2014 10:34 AM in response to eebowanby grosenberg,I ended up fixing it. Here's what I did:
- Deleted the iCal preferences file (com.apple.ical.plist, in your library folder under your user name...not the main library folder)
- Rebooted
That seemed to unstick this, and my system then recognized the calendar option as selected for iCloud, and iCal worked fine.
