Q: How can I go back to the old numbers ('09 I think)?

The new version is a hopeless pile of unorganised crap. It lacks most features that are nescessary to graphically represent data in a way that looks acceptable. It is a riddle to me how apple sees this software as an "upgrade" to the old numbers.

If you can find a Mountain Lion machine and sign on to the Mac App Store with your AppleID, you may be able to download a copy of Numbers ’09 and then copy that to your Mavericks machine.

Or you can look for DVD sets of '09 on online auction sites.

Otherwise, not.

The previous version of Numbers is still installed on your machine in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09"

I have a new machine. Bought iWork but I'm stuck with the new software (which is pretty infuriating to deal with, especially when you have to get things done). I'm wondering wether its possible to go back from the new numbers to the 09 version.

They have hinted at a six month window for (some) more functionality, no details.

This support document describes features Apple plans to add back to Numbers in over the next few months. It seems unlikely that many niche features in Numbers 2.3 will ever be reintroduced in Numbers 3, though one never knows.

BTW, if you bought a new machine you should not have had to pay for iWork. You might want to check that out with Apple.
