iOS: Using AirPlay
Learn how to use AirPlay to stream videos, music, and photos wirelessly from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
You can AirPlay videos, music, or photos from a variety of locations on your iOS 7 device, including from within the Photos, Videos, Safari, and Music apps.
To use AirPlay, you will need the following:
iPhone 4s (or later), iPad 2 (or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)
Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
AirPort Express
Wi-Fi (802.11a/g/n) network
AirPlay video or photo content to your Apple TV
Connect your iOS device and Apple TV or AirPort Express to the same Wi-Fi network.
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center.
Tap AirPlay. You should now see available Apple TVs.
Tap the name of the Apple TV you want to AirPlay to, then tap Done. Now when viewing content in Photos, Videos, or the Safari app, it will be streamed to your Apple TV.
AirPlay audio content to your Apple TV or AirPort Express
Connect your iOS device and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center.
Tap AirPlay. You should now see available AirPlay-enabled devices.
Tap the name of the device you want to AirPlay to, then tap Done. Now when playing audio in the Music or Safari app, it will be streamed to your AirPlay-enabled device.
Note: The images of a TV screen or speaker next to each AirPlay device in the AirPlay menu indicate the type of media content you can stream to that device.
If your device isn't using iOS 7
Additional Information
To get full AirPlay features, make sure your AirPlay-enabled devices are using the latest software updates.
When AirPlay is enabled from Control Center, it will stay on until turned off. Therefore this setting will extend to all apps when used.
Not all apps or in-app content allow AirPlay.
