Q: I have a Late 2008 15 inch MacBook Pro and the battery cover is no longer tight - almost like the battery has swollen and lifted the cover. Will a replacement battery solve this issue? Touchpad has also started acting up since I noticed this cover issue.

I have a Late 2008 15 inch MacBook Pro and the battery cover is no longer tight - almost like the battery has swollen and lifted the cover. Will a replacement battery solve this problem?

I first noticed the issue when the touchpad started acting up. I went to pickup the laptop and noticed the cover no longer fits tight. If I fiddle with things enough the touchpad will come back back starting to be a pain.

The battery still seems to hold a charge OK, but no longer dare to place the laptop on a bare counter or table as I am afraid of scratching things up as the case is no longer smooth.

I just don't want to spend the money for a battery if it won't be the solution to both problem - cover fitting tight and touchpad working right all the time.

I recently got a new 13.3 MacBook Pro with retina display but would like to pass this laptop along to my spouse if I can get the case and touchpad issues resolved as I think it still has a lot of life left in it.

Thanks,

JP
