Q: Why won't my songs transfer from itunes to my iphone?

When I plug in my phone into my computer and try to sync my playlists on iTunes to my iPhone, the sync completes but the songs will not transfer.  I even tried deleting the existing playlists from my iPhone and I couldn't even do that.  I have literally tried everything that I know.  Any suggestions?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

Trevormitchell1212 helped me a great deal.  I plugged my iphone into itunes, went to "music" on the menu, unchecked "sync music", and then "apply" (at the lower left of the screen).  This will erase all the music on your iphone, there will be a message that says so, (at least does not show up on the menu's list, but songs and artist will still show on your iphone).

I then checked "sync music" (either "entire library if you have enough space available, or "selected playlist, etc.) and then click "apply" again.  All the selected items will then show up.

I was so frustrated but this was an easy fix.

P.S.  I did not have to turn off my passcode.

    Hi,

    This worked for me also.

I backed up my phone, unchecked the sync music button in iTunes and then hit apply.

After this process went through I was once again able to sync music between my iTunes account and my iPhone.

I also didn't have to turn off any passwords or other settings.

Thanks for restoring my sanity and helping out.

I'm posting in case this helps anyone else, although I'm not sure if my inablillity to copy music was to do with the OS... or my own ignorance...

Following advice in previous posts, I deleted apps to make sure I had enough space, I tried syncing... several times, I tried backing up then restoring iPhone from backup... but still a new playlist want't copying from iTunes to iPhone.  I tried the sharing option, but as other people have pointed out as soon as I close iTunes on my macbook, the new playlist disappears from my iPhone.

Then (in iTunes on my macbook) I dragged and dropped the playlist onto iPhone and it has now sucessfully copied the tracks and the playlist.  The only difference between everything I tried earlier and the drag and drop I've just used is that I removed the data cable connecting iPhone to Macbook (after I enabled it for syncing via wifi). I don't know why it has worked this time, but it has.

And the reason I mentioned my own ignorance... I didn't know you could just drag and drop from one to the other, I thought iTunes only worked by syncing content between devices :/

I had this problem and I SOLVED it!

This is how I can fixed it:

    1. Select all the music files in your library

    2. Copy them (so you can paste them elsewhere)

    3. Make a folder on your desktop and paste the files there

    4. Delete the files from iTunes

    5. Go to File and click "Add to Library" and select the folder

    6. After the files are added back to your iTunes, sync your device like normal.

    Hope this works!!

This fixed the issue with my iPhone5s / iTunes 11.1.3 interfacing Music from iTunes to my iPhone.  So much for automatic syncing .  this used to work flowlessly with previous versions of iTunes and my iPhone 4.

The ding is just your laptop telling you that the sync is complete!

I have a 5s and have had the exact same problems as majority of the comments and replies I've read. But as for the ones that had found success by clearing all of the music and re-syncing it all back, I didnt figure I had time to do that so I've been tinkering with all the itunes music settings I could possibly find and

I finally found an easy fix (at least for myself it worked, so I hope it works for others!)- while my iPhone was plugged in, i went "On This Phone" tab and clicked the "Autofill" button to the bottom right, and it suddenly downloaded the music I had been  trying to download to my phone for the past couple of hours in a matter of seconds! So wish the best of luck for those of you that try that approach!

Hi, I have a similar problem, I have been using apple for 7 years now and i have never run into  problem like this, So i have 450 songs and some i got off the intrenet and CD's but since the new IOS has come out my CD music and the songs from the intrenet dont sync anymore and some of the songs i have purchase are not working either, I already Removed all my songs and put them back on three times already but when i play some songs it just skips over them, but they are clickable not translucent, i have also tried syncing only selected songs too, on my about bar i have 2.11 gigs and it only shows 294 songs but my library is much bigger plus i have almost 4 gigs of free space. Any advice would be helpful. Thank You.

This fixed my problem! My newly bought songs from iTunes wouldnt transfer to my iphone despite being selected in a playlist. I just had to set up my iTunes on my Mac to Home Share, then went to my iphone and my iTunes library then appeared as an option in Shared. Voila! Thanks funniehuh!
