Q: What will happen if I don't get my Mac fixed?
Hello everyone. Just recently (about four days ago) my mom accidentally spilled a cup of Kool-Aid. It went into the side of my Macbook Pro, and in the back as well. It shut off right away and wouldn't turn on at first. My mom and I dryed it off as much as possible and took the back off for it to air off. I tried turning it on afterwards, and it did. It is currently working and I haven't had any major problems with it.
However, when I took it to the Apple Store to make sure things were fine, the guy there told me it NEEDS repaired or it will eventually die. He said it would cost me 1,200 dollars, which is pretty much how much I paid for this Mac, to get it fixed. He said the stickiness from the Kool-Aid will eventually corrode the wires, causing my Mac to die.
Is this true? Or was he trying to get me to buy a new one?
If it is true, how long will my Mac last?
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Any liquid could damage the whole MacBook Pro, and once you have spilt it, your Mac may stop working at any moment. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5511
That type of repairs are quite expensive because near everything is affected except the display, and maybe the hard drive. In conclusion, what the Genius told you is true. Now you have to decide whether you want to get your Mac repaired or get a new computer.
