Q: how can you import samples into the virtual keyboard in garageband?

hey in an older version of garageband i was able to chop up samples and place them into the virtual instrument keyboard but in the new garageband i don't know how to do that, or if its possible.

It woud have been preferable to buy GB version 6.0.5 and then use the free upgrade to GB 10.0. Now I see no option to buy 6.0.5, uness you revert your system to Mt. Lion.

If you can, wait a bit, if apple will reintroduce a sampler instrument, hat can be configured, or publishes better documentation, that will tell us, how to configure the available sound effects instruments.

If you need the instrument desperately, buy the boxed retail version of iLife and upgrade GarageBand from the software support page to 6.0.5, see:  GarageBand 6.0.5

    Hi there,

I got this to work in GB '09 so thanks for the tip.

I was wondering if you could help with the next issue. Some of the samples I want to use are pad sounds to sit under a live band, with keys assigned to sounds in different keys for each song. I was wondering if there's a way to assign the sounds to continuous play without having to hold it down all the time? Other than a sustain pedal of course..

    Thanks
