    Hi,

You should be able to use store credit but you must have a valid credit Card attached to your account.

Why are SO many people asking this question, and no one is answering? Why does no one at Apple ever answer these "support" discussions? It's just millions of people upset for various reasons (such as broken off buttons on the iPhone 4S that my poor mother has experienced, among thousands and thousands of others with ZERO help from Apple). And the only people who do find help here, get it from others who find workarounds without Apple's help.

I also have the same question as above, (and the thousands of others do as well - do a quick Google search or just look at all the similar posts to the right).  I've tried to call Apple, and I keep getting re-directed to their website. I search their website, and no answer is provided. PLEASE RESPOND Apple. Geez louise. For such a profitable company, they sure don't help their customers very well. I have so many Apple products, I can't even count.

Your customer "support" is shameful, Apple. Unbelievably bad. #apple #fail

The Apple Support Community is made up of users just like you. Apple employees do not generally participate in these forums.

However Jim has answered the OP's question, which is the same answer you require. As to your mother's hardware issue with her iPhone I suggest you make an appointment at the Genius bar at the nearest Apple Store. They will handle it for you.

Thanks Michael. I wasn't aware until this evening that this wasn't supposed to have Apple helpers involved, as their phone system sends you here, so I assumed if they won't help you on the phone and direct you to a support forum that it would be them offering the support. And while I saw his answer, the Apple store told me the opposite answer (and she asked 3 supervisors), so not knowing Apple employees didn't participate here, I wanted confirmation directly from Apple.

That said, after 3 hours and many calls, I got to a tech who confirmed the answer for me. I tried to post it here with links for others (confirmation in writing), but Apple wouldn't let me post. (I tried to post in several others with the answer as well, just to be kind and pay it forward), but again apparently there is something in my post the forum bots don't like.

As for my mom, she's been to the Apple store and Verizon where she purchased the phone. She was told the same thing the thousands of others that tried to win in c. our t. bc of it: can't help you. It's faulty construction when thousands and thousands of people have the same problem with the same model.

I believe the information you are looking for is in this Apple KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4914. Specifically...

    1. Note: You may use store credit to pay for your iTunes Match subscription; however, you must have a valid payment method on file at the time of sign up.

Unfortunately we cannot help you with the hardware problem your mother is having with her iPhone. I do recommend that you only deal directly with Apple through either AppleCare or the brick-n-mortar Apple Stores for hardware issues. If you have more than one in your area go to another one. I don't know what the issue is you are having, but if it is truely a defective iPhone then Apple will replace it. However, if it is simply the result of clumsiness or misuse then Apple won't replace it.

Thank you Michael. That was 1 of the 2 links I tried to share with others who may be searching for the answer. Thank you for sharing it!

As for the Apple store, she went to 2 different ones and they would not help her. It is what it is.

You are helpful though, and this forum is worthwhile only because of helpful informed people like you. Thank you!

Any idea Michael, why Apple won't let me post what I wrote? There's nothing bad at all in my post. And it even compliments the Apple tech that finally was able to help. It's driving me mad, because I just wanted to pay it forward on the other posts on here. I've seen other people post links to things. Then I even took out the links and gave directions how to find them by going to the Apple site and navigating from there.

    Completely perplexed.

*Update: I think it was just too long. I also tried to delete THIS post, but it won't let me. Ha. I am not good at this forum apparently. Cheers.

Without seeing what you wrote, I'm afraid I don't really know.
