Q: MS PowerPoint for Mac - file open but not on display

Try opening Displays System Preferences, hold down Option, then click on "Detect Displays" button.

Hopefully that will cause it to forget the disconnected display and move the PPT window to the other display.

Had the same issue too, tried opening the same file with Keynote and it opened fine. Suspected the problem was from Powerpoint, so I deleted the com.microsoft.Powerpoint.plist file in ~/Library/Preferences/

Relaunched Powerpoint and the file is now displayed on the screen.

had the same problem few minutes ago. but then got a solution.

open power point and then open the file youwant. later, go to - windows - zoom!

the file will just appear!!

Fantastic. Worked a treat. This has been a problem for a while and solved by reconnecting screen.

I selected all files in finder. Right clicked and selected get info. In get info window you reselect open with to be Microsoft PowerPoint. You will see change in file size as you do that. Close this window and double click PPT file. It will open without any issue in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Brilliant solution to this problem I had for years. But why Microsoft does not fix this bug?

not a bug.

its related to last time you've disconnected the external displayer.

Connect it back and do security disconnection.. You shouldn't have more toubble

- Open your power point file
- Open System Preference
- Display

- Scaled

- Change to another size (the window will appear)
- Change it again to default size
