Dec 27, 2013 10:00 AM in response to MrTradeby Gigimama,I'm having exactly the same problem with my ipad. Everything was working fine until I upgraded the software on my Apple TV . Now I just get the same connection error. I've rebooted everything - even ran a speed test on my internet connection. Everything is in good working order... except the Airplay. Frustrated :(

Jan 6, 2014 7:10 AM in response to MrTradeby madde84,Same problem here! Seems to be an issue with the new mac book (late 2013, MB Pro, 13" Retina).
My old MB Pro (early 2011) connects just fine....

Jan 6, 2014 7:33 AM in response to madde84by MrTrade,Hi all,
I've fixed the described issue.
In my case I had a firewall bug.
Try to disable your firewall for a moment.
If its already disabled turn it on!
But keep an eye on the Firewall options and disable the field "Block all incoming connection".
In any case CHANGE your firewall settings and try it again.
I hope this will help you.
Regards Paul

Jan 6, 2014 9:27 PM in response to Winston Churchillby acsantucci,I have the exact same problem. My mac worked connected with no issues the first time now whenever I click to connect to the Apple TV it comes back with 'Could not connect to "Apple TV"'. My phone connects with no issue and i have tried the above steps in reseting my router, checking my internet connection is the same on both devices and checking my firewall, but to no avail.
I am not sure if this is a common problem but any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

Feb 10, 2014 2:17 PM in response to acsantucciby geekofiedstud,Just setup my Apple TV and trying to AirPlay from my Mac. Getting the error 'Could not connect to "Apple TV"'
I have tried all below:
- restarting my wifi router (Airport Express)
- restarting my Apple TV
- restarting my MacBook Pro
- turning off my Firewall
Altough it AirPlay works seemlessly from iPhone and iPad but not from my MacBook Pro.

Feb 11, 2014 12:25 AM in response to geekofiedstudby madde84,How is the networking done? Apple TV connected to Router by LAN-cable or also WIFI? What happens when you play around with different installations: Also connect the Mac by cable. Just to zero in on the problems.
It would be interesting if your Mac connects to the Apple TV by cable but doesnt by WIFI.

Feb 12, 2014 12:31 AM in response to madde84by geekofiedstud,I have an Airport Express and my Apple TV was plugin to it via Ethernet when I last posted.
After your suggestion I tried to unplug the Apple TV and make it connect to internet through the same Wifi as my MacBookPro. It would still not take AirPlay request from MBP with the same error message 'Could not connect to "Apple TV"'.
All this time my firewall is off.
Anything else that I can try?

Feb 13, 2014 2:54 PM in response to MrTradeby Tacoma13,I want to thank you for posting about the fire wall. I have been having this issue with my Macbook(early 2011) not being able to go to Apple TV. It would just say "couldn't connect to Apple TV." I even went into an Apple Store asking them yesterday about it since that it's been almost a year since I got my 3rd Generation Apple TV and I wasn't able to mirror(only worked through Itunes which is weird). I could mirror from my Iphone without an issue, it was just something with my Mac. I had turned off the firewall like you said. Turned the mirroring on and it went from my Macbook to my Television without issue. Turned the firewall back on and it worked. So thanks very much.

Feb 18, 2014 7:54 PM in response to geekofiedstudby Tacoma13,Well mine works, sort of. I have to turn off the fire wall. Push the mirrioring to the tv and close the firewall and everything works. I've had to do that this whole time. So anytime that I want to mirror, I have to turn off the fire wall, turn on the mirroring and then turn back on the fire wall. I am not sure why this is. I haven't figured the fix out. Now I just annoyed with it.
