    Gorog,

Jan has provided some excellent articles on work arounds that involve using a PC path through parallel ports, etc..

May I suggest another route that we have taken.  Changing to PC printers.  Because of strong laws encouraging electronic waste recycling in Washington State, USA, we can find used laser printers that are being discontinued by companies.  The recycling companies sell printers refurbuished for $100 and as is for as low as $25.  They also provide a test print that includes toner information and copy count information.

While we do have a number of used Apple laser printers, the economics of using them are more costly than going to a recycled HP Laser Jet that has been phased out only because a company moved on to newer printers.  Four printers for $100 or a guaranteed printer for the same price allows for redundancy.  When one dies, pull out the next one.  And toner is only $20 for some HP models.
