Apple Remote Desktop is OS X only. For iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch etc) look in the App Store for anything that has VNC in its title of which there are lots. Something like this for example:

We had an IT guy set up the office computers for remote desktop. It would be nice if there were an iPad app which would enable us to use the same protocol to get into the office computers. It seems like VNC is a completely different protocol, and would require things to be set up on the desktop computers side.

I just downloaded the free Dell/Wyse PocketCloud app, to see whether or not we'd be able to use it. It looks like it requires Google Services to access the remote desktop machine, but my wife's company does not allow access to Google Services. It also talks about VNC, but it's not apparent how to use it. There's also something about CCM (cloud client management), which involves buying and installing stuff on the desktop side, which sounds very expensive.
