Q: good afternoon,

I have a few questions and would appreciate input from the fundis

I want to prevent access for a computer that is on my wi-fi network ( using a timeCapsule) to a website, How do  I set it up.

Is there a way to set up a time window for a computer to have access to the internet via the Wifi?

Do I need a 3rd party program to monitor which websites are visited or is there a program from Apple?

iMac, iOS 6.0.1, usina time Capsule as my wifi

    Hello jolowo,

It sounds like you would like to set time limits for Internet access and what websites are accessible on your iMac.  I think Parental Controls in the System Preferences of your iMac may fit your needs.

Parental Controls will allow you to restrict the following:

    • Apps: Specify which apps the child can access. If you allow the child to access the App Store, you can specify a permitted app rating so the child only sees age-appropriate apps.
    • Web: Limit access to websites or allow unrestricted access.
    • People: Restrict a child’s contacts with other people through Game Center, email, and Messages.
    • Time Limits: Set time limits for weekdays, weekends, and bedtime.
    • Other: Hide profanity in the dictionary and other sources, and block using the built-in camera, Dictation, burning CDs and DVDs, or changing the password or printer settings.

The following resources provide more information on Parental Controls and how to set it up:
