Q: how do I rename my airport/timecapsule (Microsoft PC's dont like the hyphen in my current network name
Microsoft is telling me I need to eliminate the hyphen (') in the name of my wireless network. How do I do this without affecting the other MAC's and windows PC's? Thanks
Timecapsule, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

If you make any change at all in the name of the wireless network, in effect you will have a "new" network that will affect all of your wireless devices.
So, you will have to set up each wireless device again to connect to your "new" network.
Is this what you want to do? If yes.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the small window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window
In the box next to Wireless Network Name, edit the name as you wish. It would be a good idea to use only letters and numbers, and limit the name to 8-20 characters with no blank spaces in the name.
To avoid confusion, I would recommend that you use a completely different name than you did before.
Click Update at the lower right to save the changes that you made, and allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart.
Now you will need to search for the "new" network and log on with each of your wireless devices.
