Did you wait for the activity indicator to finish in step 4? How many minutes long is your project?

In the Finder, if you left-click on the video you produced in the first 4 steps, then with the video selected hit the spacebar, what happens? If it doesn't begn to play in Finder, then something is wrong with the iMovie export. It looks like you are either not waiting for iMovie to finish creating the MP4 file or it is somehow failing.

I'm afraid I had the same results. The exports from iMovie wouldn't play in Quicktime and I was puzzled about that in an earlier post to this thread. So far, as I read, I keep going back to what worked for me: open the package contents of the iMovie library, open the specific project, open "original media" and drop that .mov file into Toast.

I didn't realize that iDVD was no longer even included in the system package.

Alan, I have the same specs as you. I created a project in IMovie but when I click File>Share, I get nothing. Any ideas? Thanks

Do you have MacKeeper installed? If so, you will need to uninstall it. After that, you will need to re-install iMovie.

MacKeeper disables all the sharing functions of the iMovie.

Thank you. Your post saved a similar project for my kid's grandparents!

Alan Cook - Thank you for your direction on how to burn a DVD.  I clicked on Share/File/(and then tried all 4 file types)... then nothing.  I do not have MacKeeper installed (at least a search did not show it installed)  What now?

Also, while I'm here...., I must express my anger with Apple for dropping the simple function of burning a DVD from Movie 10.  Apple missed the mark on this one!  I have just spent a week making a family video from our vacation last year.  I want to have some sort of tangable media (DVD) in my hands at the end of this process..... like the previuous 9 DVDs/vacations we have had.  Why on earth did Apple drop the idea that people don't want to make a DVD???????

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

I am having the same trouble burning a DVD!  If Apple has decided to give us software to create slide shows and has upgraded that why in the "H" have they taken away the ability to burn a DVD from your created iMovie slide show?  It just doesn't make sense!  I have also tried sending the movie to Vimeo with no positive results.  Why put these options on the iMovie software if they don't work.  Just affirms my opinion that Apple doesn't care about desktop users anymore and is spending all their time making convenient tablet apps and leaving good customers behind to be frustrated as H!

Did you follow the step-by-step instructions I gave on page 1 of this thread? At which step does the process fail?

Well.....the first try gave me an error message when I tried to pull the movie into iDVD.  I did the share again this afternoon and it seems like it has worked........  we shall see.  I think it stinks that Apple is not supporting iDVD!  I have made an annual DVD every year for several years.  I'm going to check out the share via Vimeo also and if it doesn't work then I have another bone to pick!

    Thanks for your help!

I have no idea what "export button" you are referring to?  The only option that I see is in the pull down menu and is under share to file or other options?

Select Share to file and in the window that opens select 480p in the size drop down.

Why 480P?  What if I want a different format?
