Q: Can I install a mix of 2 GB + 4 GB memory, that is  a total of 6GB,  in my Imac 27 or a Mac Book Pro?

I would like to know if the memories I used in my mac must be of the same size e.g. 2+2 = 4 or if it could be 2+4 = 6 or even on a IMac with four slots if I could use 2+2+4+4 = 12, for exemple.

I understand they must be of the same compatible type e.g. DDR3

Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities

You can use modules of different size if you want, but you may lose Dual Channel (this will not happen if you install 2 modules of 2 GB and 2 modules of 4 GB). However, it is important to use the same type of RAM, so you will not have issues with your Mac. This applies to all Macs.

You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial.
