Dec 26, 2013 9:04 AM in response to greenboy1by JHelmstetterJr,This issue was resolved for me by carefully examining my PATH environmental variable as well, but here is the twist. I had performed a clean uninstall of all Apple software and reinstalled and iTunes Store crashed iTunes every time. I verified that my patch variable contained both the entries:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\
but here is whar I actually saw the first time:
"...\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET Web Pages\v1.0\; C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support;C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\..."
Looks good right? Well if you look closer, there is a space just before the drive letter for the Apple Application Support path. I removed that space and the issue was solved.
"...\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET Web Pages\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support;C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\..."
No reboot necessary.
Crazy...

Jan 1, 2014 1:51 PM in response to garyh99by Ramrunner,Aha. There's your problem! iTunes is designed for 32 or 64 bit Windows only.

Jan 1, 2014 5:00 PM in response to garyh99by Ramrunner,I figured that - it was a bad attempt at humour.
Are you sure the exact same thing is happening to you? For me the symptoms were:
Sometimes iTunes would crash immediately and other times it would start, but then as soon as it says "Accessing the store" it would crash.
f the symptoms are the same, are you sure you're putting the extra vaiables in the SYSTEM path, not the USER one, and are you sure you've rememberd the semi colon?
It is important to get it right. The fact is the VAST majority of people responding here have the problems fixed doing exactly what is proposed here and I think they are 100% spot on in that it fixes the problem, but you must follow the steps EXACTLY.
To be 100% sure we are talking about the same "Fix", this is exactly what seems to be fixing it:
1. From your desktop, right-click "My Computer" and click "Properties" (If you don't have the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, use the following steps, 0.1 - 0.5)
0.1 - Click the Start Menu button (Or use the Windows button on your keyboard)
0.2 - Locate "Computer" (should be in the right panel near the middle)
0.3 - Right-click on "Computer"
0.4 - Click "Properties" from the option pane
0.5 - This should have opened the "System" window (in the control panel also), continue to step 2
2. In the "System" window, click on "Advanced system settings", this brings up the "System Properties" window
3. In the "System Properties" window, click on the "Advanced" tab
4. In the "Advanced tab", click the "Environment Variables" button
5. In the "Environment Variables window", find and highlight the "Path" variable in the "Systems Variables" section
6. Click the "Edit" button to bring up the "Edit System Variable" window.
7. Finally, place your mouse cursor at the very end of the "Variable Value", and modify the variable value by adding the following (EXACTLY) to the end:
;C:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\

Jan 1, 2014 5:45 PM in response to Ramrunnerby garyh99,I think I've done it right. Here's what my Path is:
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\Syste m32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
I don't know what everything else is, but I added the "fix" to the end and I still have the problem. iTunes work well, except when I go to the store. Then it quits.

Jan 2, 2014 1:33 PM in response to garyh99by garyh99,Getting frustrated now. I have another PC with the same version of iTunes and it works fine. I can access the iTunes store with no problem. Only difference it that one is a 32 bit and mine is a 64 bit. I copied the path from the good one to mine and it still crashed. I added the "fix" to the path and it still crashes. I rebooted after each change. Here's the final path I'm using.
Any suggestions?
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT% \System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\

Jan 2, 2014 4:24 PM in response to garyh99by Ramrunner,I honestly do not know. I actually only have iTunes installed because some podcasts I want are unfortunately only available on iTunes. I actually do not like the software at all, and use it only when I really have to.
The only thing I can suggest is double check your FULL path by typing "path" in a command prompt box.
You can verify the variable is in there correctly and make sure there are no extra spaces anywhere. If you read the comments above on this page from JHelmstetterJr this actually happend to him. There was an extra space. It happens.
Other than that I really do not know. Sorry.
