Jan 10, 2014 7:37 AM in response to tabithasilva90by Fauril,Got the same problem BUT my U2713HM worked fine for weeks with 10.9 and 10.9.1 !!!!!!!
And now nothing, the only way to use my DELL is to use the HDMI output and 1080i resolution. Screen is black "no signal detected" appears when plugged on the miniDP output.
My miniDP to DP cable & my U2713HM work fine with a macbook under LION...
And I have made a complete new installation of MAVERICKS 10.9.1
very boring...

Feb 10, 2014 12:35 PM in response to Faurilby alankstewart,Just got a U2713H and I also get the "No DisplayPort Cable" box floating around the screen with my new mid-2013 MacBook Air 11" using the miniDP to DP cable. My son's 13" Air also doesn't work with the cable either. Tried two different mini DP to DP cables, so I don't believe the problem is with the Thunderbolt ports on the Macbooks or with the cables as both machines work wth either cable on my 2711.
Would love some help here
Thanks

Feb 11, 2014 12:13 PM in response to alankstewartby Fauril,Still the problem with my mini late 2012. But it works with thunderbolt cable on an Apple cinéma display...
Checking with other miniDP to DP cable in progress.
I'm afraid that it might be a problem with the U2713 itself: sometimes it works with some Apple computer, sometimes not with an other one.
Very boring and for the moment im not sure where the problem is...

Apr 16, 2014 5:22 PM in response to alankstewartby alankstewart,I've resolved my issue with my mid 2013 MacBook Air and my new Dell U2713.
Two things:
1) I'm a bit of an idiot as I didn't realise that the U2713H had two sets of display connections - one for input and one for output. Without looking I was plugging the DP end of the cable into the output socket. Once plugged into the input screen worked great, except for fuzzy fonts, which was fixed by,
2) Followed the instructions at http://embdev.net/topic/284710#3027030. Make sure you run the script in a terminal window displayed in the monitor itself.

Jun 8, 2014 9:46 PM in response to Faurilby Gabe S,Fauril, did you ever find a solution? I just got a 13" retina macbook pro and have the same monitor. It worked fine with my 2009 13" MBP over mini DP to DP connection but for some reason nothing happens when it's connected to the new computer. I'd love to hear if you fixed it.

Servers EnterpriseI have a U2713h working fine with a Mac, I did have to 'assist' the user in getting it working. This model has both a Displayport socket and comes with a Displayport to Mini Displayport cable, and a Mini Displayport socket. These sockets are labelled differently in the on-screen menu, if you are using the Displayport socket with the Displayport to Mini Displayport cable you need to select the Displayport entry in the on-screen menu and not the Mini Displayport entry.
Because the user was plugging a Mini Displayport plug in to the MacBook they had picked the wrong choice.
Works fine with a 13" Retina MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.3

Jun 9, 2014 9:28 AM in response to John Lockwoodby Gabe S,Hi John, thanks for the reply! My situation is slightly different since I have a U2713HM; it only has a full displayport output on the monitor and choices for VGA, DVI-D, HDMI, and Displayport on the OSD.
I spent a couple hours chatting with Apple Support last night showing them what was wrong, trying it all again as a new user, resetting the SMC and NVRAM, and finally reinstalling the OS. No luck, plugging in the cable that works perfectly with my '09 MBP still tells the monitor to go to sleep and shows the 2550 x 1440 resolution on the built-in display for some reason. They told me that it's highly unusual and have escalated my case to engineering.

Aug 20, 2014 3:49 AM in response to tabithasilva90by tentypes,I assume you guys hit the same issue that I did, that is that the monitor defaults to using the DVI input.
The fix for this is to change it to HDMI input when using the HDMI cable.
To do this, bring up the menu buttons by pressing one of the black buttons above the power button on the left. Then press:
- Menu
- Input Source
- HDMI
- Exit the menu selections.
It will likely take you a few goes because the menu items are a bit tricky to navigate.

Apr 8, 2015 9:51 AM in response to alankstewartby Solley,I'm trying to connect my new Dell U2713H to my MBPr early 2013 (runs Yosemite 10.10.2) using MiniDisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable but I'm getting the floating msg on the Dell "No DVI-D cable. The display will go into Power Save Mode in 5 minutes." DP is plugged into the input DP port on the monitor.
And of course power cable is plugged in as well. Do I miss something?

Alo, how did you "type" the body of the your post? I can only read it by selecting the text. Did you use a strange font color like one the is similar to the white background?

Do I miss something? You probably need to press the buttons usually located in the bottom right corner of the screen to tell the screen to use the Displayport socket and not the DVI socket. It sounds like it is currently set to use the DVI socket which of course is not connected to your computer. As a result of not finding a computer attached to the DVI socket it then decides there is no point staying turned on and instead goes in to energy saver mode waiting for something to appear on the DVI socket.
