    Options:

    1) Take it back to where it was bought and see if you can exchange it

    2) Buy a Mi-Fi device to create a WiFi network from a 3G mobile Internet connection

    3) Buy a Wi-Fi router to create a WiFi network from a wired Internet connection

Option is a little difficult because this item was bought in Ben Gur Airport while we are here now and resident in Lagos. Except apple has a way of exchanging

or replacing the item through its chain. The item we actually needed should have been model A1475 with network connectivity especial Mobile Sim cards

I donot understand Option 2 . Can it it be explained. How can it be purchased.

    Cheers and thanks

Contact your local wireless providers to see if they offer MiFi and what

    the details are.

Perhaps this link will help explain MiFi

A Mifi device is small portable device that connects to a cellular/mobile network using a mobile sim card , and then creates a small Wifi network to share that connection to other devices.

It can be purchased at most cellular network stores. Contact your preferred provider for purchase, device and plan details.

Thanks but this means carrying another mobile device apart from the cell phone and the ipad. Does apple store chain network have a way of replacing/ exchanging an item in a circumstance as this a least for some cost?

No. The only way is to sell your current device to someone and use the money towards buying another.

Why not use the iPhone as a hotspot for your iPad ?

Mifi devices are usually quite small. Think Credit Card size, and maybe slightly thicker. So not really a big device you need to carry around.

In any case if you are still within the 14 day return period you may be able to return it to an Apple retail store. It needs to be an Apple Owned store, not sure Authorized Resellers will let you do it.

Other than that, bob points out, you may want to try to use the iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad.  If your Carrier supports it.  Like the Mifi device, the iPhone will share its cellular internet connection out to other devices over a Wireless network the iPad can use.
