Please enter the following command into a Terminal window in the same way as before (no typing):

    rm -i ~/Desktop/.DS_Store

You may be prompted to remove a file named exactly ".DS_Store" (without the quotes.) Press the Y key and then return to confirm. Press the N key and then return if you get any other response, or just close the Terminal window. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

You know, this story seems to have changed since it began. You wrote in your original message:

My iMac takes time to eject external drive and/or sending files to the trash

    Two days later you wrote:

I guess am having trouble with my desktop only

Can you reconcile those two statements, please? If we're not clear about what the problem is, there's no chance of solving it.

it's the same original story, as you know you could manage your external drive mostly from the desktop.

When I wrote: I guess am having trouble with my desktop.. I meant it.

Often I use drag and drop the external drive to the trash for ejecting it, or right click then Eject "My Drive".

When I deal with files or folders I use two keys: (command + backspace), drag and drop and move to trash, those three way to delete works perfect with any opened finder window recently (it might be after you helped me with some terminal code), but it get stuck or delay only with the desktop and that's why I wrote that two days later.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

    View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Back up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

Erase and install OS X. This operation will destroy all data on the startup volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

When you reboot, the Setup Assistant will launch to take you through the initial setup process. Follow the prompt to transfer the data from one of your backups. Don't transfer the Guest account, if it was enabled on the old system.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.

You cannot imaging what was the issue I faced 10 months ago !!!

I was using an USB optical mouse instead of magic mouse, and it wasn't compatible due to the double click speed I've chosen in system preferences mouse tab.

when I replaced it with the magic mouse, everything works perfect and great.

I would like to share the result I found in my iMac with you guys so if same issue happen with someone, @least that was the solution.

thank you all for your advice and respected replies you did.
