Thanks for the link; timing was perfect for my need of the same update; however, I got this error message after trying to open the app after using the update:

    Dyld Error Message:

    Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX

Referenced from: /Applications/Final Cut Express.app/Contents/MacOS/Final Cut Express

    Reason: image not found

I did delete the original application and used the installer to reinstall and the same error message appears.  Any thoughts?

Hi, looks like I am about a few weeks too late here, but I have this same problem - can't find the update from 4.0 to 4.0.1.  Could you please repost this dropbox link to help me?  About 95 % done with a film for university and my harddrive crashed, trying to pick up the pieces.

Thank you so much!  I am getting a little desperate and can't find any help!

    Best to you!

It’s back. Please let me know, if there is any problem, and when you have it safely in hand.

Hey D.Hoffmann, I'm really sorry to ask for the fce 4.0.1 update but please can you drop box it again? I upgraded to Mavricks and had to reinstall FCE 4 and now my previous projects dont work.

    I would be eternally grateful.

Thank you so much for the help!!! I did get it downloaded.  It took me a while to learn I had to drop my security preferences so that the OS would allow me to install an update from an "unrecognized software developer."  All good now.  Just about done with the graduate studies with this film work, so thank you!  I think you might have been the only person in the world making this available still!

    Wishing you the best!

    D. Hoffmann - you're a life saver, thank you so much. I've downloaded it from dropbox but having the trouble that jtlor says - won't install because it's "unrecognized software developer". Was wandereing how you drop the security preferences?

Don’t you just have to right-click the file and open it by selecting “Open” from the contextual menu? I don’t remember exactly, how I did it.

To bypass the "unrecognized software developer" stop, go to Apple Menu>System Preferences>Security & Privacy>General.  If you tried to open such a file, you'll find a statement to that effect here, along with a checkbox next to "run anyway".  That will get you going.  New with Mavericks.

You can do away with such messages by checking Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere, but of course that removes one layer of security.

D.Hoffman -- WOW!  You're going to be a hero!!  I too need the download file for Final Cut Express 4.0.1  (*this is my 1st time posting in these threads so I MUST be desperate here...)  I can't believe this simple update no longer exists on Apple's site.  SO annoying.  Any chance you can send me that same link to your dropbox page?  (or pass me a link if it exists somewhere on the internet?)  Send it to dennisn2002@yahoo.com  or  dennis@nagelkirk.com

    THANK YOU HOFFMAN!
