Probably 70% IPhone 4S are ruiner, again, not a single 4 or 5! This is a joke that Apple doesn't want to make this right by its customers...LG had a similar issue with the early Blu-Ray players. One of their firmware updates ruined DVD playback feature (Blu-Ray still worked). Their CEO acutally got involved in and units were replaced free of charge. There were 2-3 foruums worth of angry endusers demanding recall/refund...Apple should do the same thing...

So, do you have any advice? I will not discuss the "J" word here, but I am hoping there is some action that can be taken. Apple has around $100 billion in cash, maybe they could spare a little bit to correct this issue. As a shareholder, I'd prefer to have my dividend lowered than have to replace the phone (with an Android, of course. Is it permissible to use the word 'android" here?). Apple's accountants could write down the problem, and customer goodwill - which seems to be eroding - would be preserved. The Company already has a reputation for disavowing any product issues, for compelling users to perform updates that degrade earlier generation devices, etc.
Anyway, I'm heading to the Apple Store this evening for what I hope will not be a discouraging encounter, although common sense tells me otherwise.

Then contact Apple directly. If you have over 100 iPhone 4S units, then you probably have an business account with Apple, and should contact them. This forum is not going to be very useful to you.

So long Apple. Wife and I got samsung note3 and s4. Love them. And from prior experience, Samsung actually has customer service. Had been with you since first iPhone, but your lack of care with this issue has turned me off forever. Have had three friends swap as well. Hope it snowballs for you and more people wake up.

Really here on this thread we have thousands of sufferers after the iOS 7 update to iPhone 4s. If the WiFi chip was from the supplier (BRCM) then hold them accountable and make them pay for these failed phones.
Are we not loyal customers? Actually FOOLISH, BROKE customers to be appropriate. Ok I get it the focus is on finding the future FOOLS. as always.
The flock is on to next best and reliable phones.

Its almost as though the phones are programmed to stop working so you need to pay for a replacement or upgrade.. This problem is all over the internet, most time there is no reason for it, phone isn't hot or even warm. In most cases the phone is literally not even being held.
Ive seen this all to often to be just a technical fluke. I've worked for Bell mobility, Telus mobility and ive seen this probelm atleast once every 2 weeks, some weeks ive seen it up 4 -7 times. And it always seems to be between 1.5 - 3 years of the person owning the device.
I can accept that it could be a faulty transmitter and reciever but it happens accross all iphones and not just the older models... Why do people have to pay for a replacement when its clearly a manufacturer defect? This is unacceptable to me. Just another cash cow, weather it was intended or not.
I currently work at sasktel in canada (cell carrier) and i was helping a lady with her personal hotspot and the BT and WIFI stopped working right in the middle our session.

sorry to butt in, this is the most recent active discussion i could fine. i have found somebodys iphone 4, how do i report it? contact/find the owner? from experience the police hold the,m for 30 days and then bin them. how do i help?

For those who are calling this a "hardware problem"...riddle me this...
Have been having this same issue with wifi greyed out since the update to IOS 7. Have read most of the posts on this forum and the possible fixes...none of which have worked for me. Decided to do a litte troubleshooting myself here in upsate NY. So i'm sitting in my living room trying unsuccessfully to connect to WIFI and getting more PO'ed by the minute; decided to put on my coat and go out on the porch where its 20 degrees. Sit there for about 15 minutes with the phone sitting on the railing and all of a sudden...magic...WIFI works. Tooled around online for a half hour and went back inside. After about 20 minutes inside at 70 degrees...no more WIFI. Tried for 15 min to connect with no luck. Back to the porch for 15 minutes and then again...magic...WIFI works again. Surf for 30 minutes to make sure its not a fluke then back indoors. After a short time no more WIFI. One more time to the porch and same thing again. So what i take away from this is that if the phone is kept cool then WIFI works. I would not call this a hardware problem...the issue is that the new software generates more heat than the old and the WIFI chip cant operate with it. Not the same thing as the heat causing the chip to fail. Why should we all be paying for the fact the the software and the hardware in the phone are incompatible (especially since they were compatible when we bought the phones with IOS 6)???

I've decided i'm not going to get mine repaired. just going to let it swallow all my 3G every month until it dies, which will probably be quite soon considering i'm now also having the battery drainage problems and unexpected shut-downs which some of you have complained of on here. My wife's 4s which is older than mine and still on ios6 is still working perfectly. There is no way in he*l she will be updating to 7. Dont want a Samsung and hate android, so i've decided to give a Nokia windows phone a crack!...no idea if its a good OS or not, but nothing ventured, nothing gained i suppose. Feel really let down as i like ios, but won't be buying another iphone until apple gets it's sh*t well and truly together!

The BBB has no authority to force Apple to change anything. Additionally, IIRC, previous complaints to the BBB have resulted in a confirmation of Apple's policy in this matter.

just out of curiosity...does my post on Feb 7 shown above sound like a hardware issue to you? Cause it sure doesn't to me...why isn't apple working on a software update that will result in less heat generated? You have stated in previous posts that the heat generated during the update caused the wifi chip to fail...it seems to me that this is not true for me and most folks posting on this forum. It would seem to be a simple fix...
