Q: my hotmail account no longer works on my iphone 4s

Hi

Can anyone help me. I cant get emails hotmail on my iphone 4s anymore. I have deleted my account and reset my password several times yet can get in now via safari once i reset my password yet on the iphone it says unable to connect to the server. I have also switched off the iphone several times and it still does not work. This started happening in the past 4 days. I tried it on my friends iphone 5 and it still doesnt work ?????

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4, 32gb phone

    Your post is not clear that when you deleted your hotmail account if you did this in the Safari environment or on the actual device?

    Once you delete the email from your mobile device and re add the email program this should resolve the issue. That is provided that you have the correct hotmail login and password.

    If the same when trying to create the account on a friend's iPhone, contact Microsoft Hotmail technical support.

    I deleted it on my iphone 4s. i have since gone into it on my macbook and ipad 1 without any problems, after i had reset my password. But it just wont work on my iphone anymore. ??? i have tried everything.

    Hi

     

    Well folks. I solved it.  The problem was setting up the advanced security for hotmail.  Now that I deleted the 2 step security feature. It now lets me set up my hotmail account on the iPhone. We'll I spent 4 days looking at every single page there was on a possible solution and I finally found it just before I was just going out to buy a new iphone 5s. Thank goodness. Hope this helps out others that had the same problem.

    Hooray for you, speedy68!  I, too, have spent hours in the past few days trying to figure out why I could no longer open the mail account on my iPhone 4. Turning off two step verification, which I had just added recently, did the trick.

    Thank you so much. You helped me find a solution on my iphone 4s....now that you found what was broken.

    To summarize, on your iphone change your E-mail password to the special one generated for you by the Outlook 2-step security system.

      1. On your phone, tap Settings, and then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
      2. Tap your Microsoft account.
      3. Visit your security info page online to get an app password.
      4. Replace the password on your phone with the app password.
      5. Tap Done.

    Finally, I can get Hotmail on my iphone 4s again.
