    I called Apple store chestnut location here in SF and asked for a manager but they were on the floor so the person who took my call said she would take my number so the manager can call me back. I told her that my phone might not work anymore as it is the one with the problem so she asked for my email address instead. I gave it to her. I have informed her of my problem with the phone, firmware, error 3 and that other people are having the issues as me and being discussed here in the apple community. No response from the manager yet. :(.

    Call this number and follow the prompts, and then ask to speak with an iOS supervisor. 1-800-275-2273

    The managers in the Apple store will not be able to help you out at this point...call the number and go forth. Tell the supervisor your issues and work with them as much as you can. They may even ask you to send some log files. Do everything they ask, and be nice the whole time. Let them know when this all started, whether it was a software update or whatnot. Give ALL DETAILS!!

    Thanks, I have had this problem since October when the update for ios7 came out and have had to use a 4S on loan from a friend. Please let me know of any new updates for the error 3 fix.

    issue solved:

    ipad 3rd gen connected via usb to windows 7

     

    disabled microsoft security essentials and windows firewall from control panel

     

    starting restore procedure: OK device restored to ios 7.0.4

    Hi glennascaul,

     

    Congratulations and thank ypu for sharing! Antivirus software on PC's has been reported to corrupt iOS download or install process in some way that the Apple install process does not catch. Your success is a great reminder to those following this thread who use PC's to follow your lead. They may also need to blow away the iOS cached download after turning off the antivirus to be sure it wasn't corrupted.

    Hi Jimbobedy,

     

    Glad we were of help! I'm still hoping to see a software solution for a more elegant fix from Apple for those owning devices following this thread that none of our collective solutions have provided a fix.

    Hope there is another solution. I will send my iPhone 5 to Apple today! My iPhone starts with 'searching network' after the third restore i get the error 3. Very sad now

    Until Apple puts out a new release we don't know if the same problem will repeat. Apple Engineering is aware of this thread and might get a fix in before the next release.

    Congratulations and thank you for taking the time to share your outcome. Did you have to jump through a bunch of hoops or did they just see "Error 3" and quickly give you a new phone? I assume you were no longer inside the warranty or Apple Care? Which iphone model?
