Q: panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff802c859241): "Unable to find driver for this platform:........

Hopefully someone can help. My Macbook Pro came up with this error when starting up and I can't get rid of it. Have tried starting up in safe mode using the Shift key however that doesnt do anything. I get the same message. I don't appear to have the original start up disk that comes with the laptop, although this was purchased new under 12 months ago.

Is anyone able to provide any solutions for me? Please excuse me but my technical knowledge for Macs isn't too flash so detailed info would be hugely appreciated.

Hmmm... this isn't like any error I've ever seen... so little info "Mac OS Version: Not yet set"...

If you have Time Machine backups, boot into the Recovery HD by holding down Command and R while the computer is starting up. Then choose to restore to a backup. If you don't have a backup, then choose to reinstall OS X.

Many thanks for having a look apad. I appreciate it.

While I can boot using Command R, unfortunately it goes to a password screen and I expect it's wanting the admin password. The Macbook is my daughters school one and they image the laptop so I'm guessing they will have put their own admin password on it as mine doesnt seem to work.

Might be a case of handing it onto the school and see if they can get into it.

    Thanks again for your help

I just wanted to add that I had this same message come up while I was updating iTunes version to the latest ( I got a new iphone and was syncing/activating thru  itunes but my MBP didn't have the latest version, so I needed to update. Sooo I agreed to the terms and here I am being the middle man in the Southpark episode!!

After installation was 'complete' a message told me I needed to restart my MBP so I agreed and then I get the same error message (same as chrisohara021) and I have no cursor nor keypad recognition.  I guess I will reinstall. So frustrating.
