Jan 16, 2014 12:37 PM in response to John Bass1by jason269,Hello, John Bass1
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Make sure to process and available updates for your computer prior to updating to Mac OS X 10.9. I would check your application folder to see if Mavericks has already download and run the installer. If the installer is not present and you are still experiencing issues, here is a troubleshooting article I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.

Jan 16, 2014 1:09 PM in response to jason269by John Bass1,I've run all the updates, verified my disk, repaired disk permissions and the same thing, so far is happening. I had a problem with File Vault corrupting and the Genius Bar ended up wiping the disk. I've rebuilt everything on the computer and upgrading to Mountain Lion didn't work off a disk either. Before the computer problem I had FCPX installed and working, and now I can't re-install because it says I need OS 9. After my first attempt with downloading OS 9, everytime I boot up I get an OS9 logo in the dock showing "paused." Something tried to happen, and I can't find anything in searching the files related to OS9. I end up dragging the icon, which looks to be half-shaded, off the dock to get rid of it.
I'll check out the articles and see what I can do. Right now, it appears the computer can't (won't) go up to anything else. At least, that's the impression I get.

Jan 16, 2014 1:30 PM in response to John Bass1by Eric Root,If it is showing Paused in the Dock, you should be able to click the installer and Resume the download. Or go to your Applications folder and Resume it.
In the Apple Store, look at the Purchases tab, and there should be an option to Resume.

Jan 17, 2014 7:44 AM in response to John Bass1by bassvid,OK, I was able to install Lion, Mountain Lion, and am now downloading Mavericks. However, my purchased FCPX is no longer under the Purchased heading.
