Apple just replaced the mouse. And guess what? it disconnects with duracell battery, on a good note it doesn't with other brand energizer, so I planned to keep it and just use energizer.

Gotcha! No green light with new batteries? - same thing happened to me. Just put in the new batteries and with the aluminium door open, spin the batteries round and round vigourously until the green light comes on. Guess it was just dirty contacts.

It's strange to read all these messages talking about contacts and so on, because I was using my wireless mouse for more than 3 years with Leopard and Lion without any problem. Only when I bought a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion installed, the problems started. At first it was hard to pair the mouse, and even when I succeded to pair, sometimes it stopped, etc. I read some advices in the internet about the problem, I have modified some stuff in the system, turned off spotlight, updated the system several times, etc. Now it is working perfectly. The only thing I noticed is that the batteries do not last too long; much less than when I was using it with Leopard and Lion.

So, in my case, I'm certain that the problem is Mountain Lion, and not batteries or contacts.

That may be the case but if the green light won't come on, no system software will help.

So Energizer batteries are the ONLY ones that work in my mouse. I tried them again today, no light came on. I tried pressing the back in. Still no light. I shook the batteries (which has probably been proven to never work), I took them out, put the dead batteries back in, took them out, tried restarting.. basically everything. In desperation, I start to shake the mouse itself. Still no light.

In a fit of rage I slammed the mouse onto my desk, and the green light comes on. Works fine now.

I had the same problem, I use mobe-e, I charged and charged and charged the battery by placing the mouse over the mobe-e pad but nothing happened, the green was still off, no life. I have taken the batteries out and with a very small screwdriver I scratched the contacts a little bit, then there was a kind of little metal folded in 2 in the batteries, I've just unfolded it a little bit in order it creates more pressure/contact when I insert the batteries. I've did it and place the mouse over the pad just a few secods and Whoala!!! the green light was on and the mouse worked again after 3 days dead. I was seriously thinking in buying a new mouse but my days shinned again .Hope it helps, if you don't have mobe-e charger just try to scratch a little bit the batteries. Good luck!

I've had sort of these problems, too. WIth 2 Macbooks and an iMac matters a bit complicated here. No green light after battery change, etc. on both of my mice. Reliable solution: Turn off the mouse, delete all mice from the bluetooth list, then turn on the desired mouse. After a short time it will show up for pairing! It seems to be an issue when the mouse has been paired already with another computer.

I can no longer use the Magic Mouse. I had solved the problem, it worked ok for a long time, despite spending a lot of battery, but now it began to get erratic again and I cannot solve the problem. After I installed Lion, appeared several problems with Magic Mouse. Now I'm using the wired Apple mouse. I would like to know if anyone knows about a wireless mouse from another manufacturer that works on Maverick without these problems.

I gave up with the Magic Mouse.

The post immediately above yours gives one interesting option.

I did what he said, and the mouse appeared in the list and paired again. But it's not working well, it's erratic and difficult to handle.

    Thank you for your message.

Thanks for updating us.   Just a little hint, sometimes it is better to start your own thread than latch onto one that has been around so long.   Some people may think you haven't read all 100 answers in the thread and not bother.  (Frankly, I'd think several times about reading a thread this long. )

You might try to do that and include some details about which of your machines is affected, how long you have had the mouse, if it is a replacement for a wired mouse, whether the batteries are sound and seat securely, if the green light is constant or flickers.

You may find that others may then jump in with suggestions.

I had exactly the same problem, tried everything and eventually realising that I was going to have to fork out for a new one and more annoyingly have to drive to the shop, I smashed it as hard as I could down on my desk. The battery cover is now bent but it works fine. As a last resort this fix works.
