Jan 16, 2014 6:52 AM in response to derKlecksby actraiser75,For your Information, I got the following support email by Allen & Heath which confirms the USB3-issue and that this is something the manufacturers have to take care of:
"
Thanks for the message.
We have identified issues with some, not all recent USB3 mac models.
The software team are working on a fix and it will be rolled out in a future firmware update.
I'm sorry I cannot give you a timescale for release but please be assured we are aware on the issue and working on a fix to resolve it."

Jan 16, 2014 7:15 AM in response to actraiser75by hankboomer, actraiser .. i really have doubts for the USB 3 explanation, i plug a POD XT (line 6) and it works perfectly, if USB 3 was responsible i should have the same problem than with my presonus sound card ?
i also repeat guys, try to record your voice or an instrument with the internal microphone ... terrible ...

Jan 16, 2014 8:07 AM in response to hankboomerby BiggusDikkus,Hey hankboomer,
I did experiment with just internal mic, recording into Garageband.
No problem. Sounds like a built in mic.
While I was at it, I also plugged in an MXL USB.006 condenser.
No problem.
I'll leave it plugged in while I'm out of the office for a few hours and check again.

Jan 17, 2014 6:39 AM in response to quattroquartiby Strad43,I installed the 10.9.2 beta that was linked from this forum. Prior to this, I could not record audio successfully in any application -- Pro Tools, Camtasia, ScreenFlow, GarageBand. Today, I seem to be able to record in Camtasia, ScreenFlow, and GarageBand but NOT in Pro Tools. I tried recording to the internal drive as well as setting the disk allocation folders to an external USB 3 drive. In Pro Tools, I am getting the same errors as before--underflow, overrun. So this 10.9.2 bet has NOT improved my experience with Pro Tools, but I am hopeful that I can continue to record audio through my Mbox 3 while creating screencasts in Camtasia and ScreenFlow as it is important to my work in education. If I can record and edit audio in GarageBand for now, it will suffice as I am essentially only recording speech. If I were using this workstation for music sessions it would be a disaster.
My rig:
Late 2013 iMac, 27", i7 3.5, 1TB Fusion Drive, 16GB RAM
Mbox 3 Pro
Pro Tools 11.1
Anyone else have success in Pro Tools with the 10.9.2 beta?

Jan 17, 2014 6:46 AM in response to Strad43by hankboomer,Strade, have you tried the internal microphone with photobooth ? just to see if there are statics and other metalic noise ?

Jan 17, 2014 8:42 AM in response to derKlecksby dbost,I found one fix, not sure if it will solve problems but solved mine. I am like most here with a relatively new iMac from last year times of RAM fast processor and after upgrading to Mavericks have experienced exactly the issues listed in this thread. I spent an exhaustive time looking for any irregularities ended up reinstalling the system added a new user and talking with folks at Apple.
I finally found by simply deleting the application Boom (Globaldelight) solved every single audio problem I was having. There seems to be pretty large group of people using Boom experiencing the same things. The application seems to suck up processor and thereby causes delays and other audio issues. I have loved using this sound app, but it is simply not worth it given the audio issues system wide it causes.
Hope this helps,
Dylan

Jan 17, 2014 10:04 AM in response to hankboomerby Strad43,I haven't yet. But I should change what I reported earlier today. While I am able to record in other applications without crashes, unfortunately there are clicks and pops as others have reported. So 10.9.2 is making my rig slightly more functional but I still can't use it successfully in any application. I seem to be able to run anything I want successfully when I boot from my external USB drive, which is fine but not a workaround I want to use for long.

Jan 17, 2014 10:43 AM in response to quattroquartiby actraiser75,I installed the latest Beta but it did not change anything for me - but I am sure my problem (USB3-related) needs to be fixed by the audio device manufacturer as mentioned in earlier posts.

Jan 17, 2014 12:10 PM in response to actraiser75by Thedirtydivine,Hey, thought i'd post this potential fix.
Just got my first macbook pro (15" retina with Mavericks- brand new) so am completely new to this apple game. Am using an Motu 8pre which uses firewire 400 which Im connecting via thunderbolt adapter with firewire 400 to 800 cable. Downloaded latest supported drivers from Motu and plugged it all in. The result was horrible 8 bit style distortion which lead me to this thread. I called Apple tech support who were very nice but couldnt fix anything and had no idea why. Things they walked me through were stuff like power reboots and memory reboots, driver reinstallation etc. I borrowed my girlfriend's audio interface (Presonus firepod fp-10) to try and eliminate factors such as the adapter/cable/drivers etc. On the presonus site the drivers they provide arent even compatible with mountain lion but i downloaded them anyway and it worked perfectly!! So I went back to the Motu site and downloaded outdated older drivers and....perfect sound!!! No problems!!
Long story short: try installing old drivers for your particular audio interface (especially if on Mavericks).
Hope this is of some help to somebody... Good luck
Tim
