Jan 19, 2014 7:09 AM in response to MlchaelLAXby aspalten,Thanks Michael, but that's the link to the Lion version of Q2007. My understanding is that I need to have the PPC version of Q2007 first in order to convert my Q2005 data (using an older Mac that runs Rosetta) and THEN I can convert the Q2007 PPC data set to the Q2007Lion format.
Let me know if that's not accurate but that's what I have been gleaning from all the esearch I have done. This is a very important question for me as I have 25 years worth of historic investment data that I can't afford to loose. I'm also exploring if there are alternate software solutions (Moneyance for example) that can read QIF files generated in Q2005. I have been using Quicken for a very long time and would hate to switch, but it is obvious that Intuit is neglecting Mac and I'm probably better off in the long run to move to a company that is more reliable. I have looked at Quickem Essentials but it is basically useless for investment tracking.
Anyway, the question remain: what's my path to converting Q2005 data to Q2007Lion and where do I get the bridging version of software required to pull it off?
Thanks,
Andrew

Jan 19, 2014 10:16 AM in response to aspaltenby MlchaelLAX,The good news is that Quicken 2007 for Lion (now updated for Mt. Lion and Mavericks) can read Quicken PPC files from 2005 through 2007.
This solution will give you your own timetable to research options other than Quicken, if that is your desire; rather than be forced to switch now.
It is Quicken 2004 and older files that require either the Quicken 2007 PPC or 2006 PPC version to make the conversion on a PowerPC platform, before coming over to Quicken 2007 for Lion (a better name would be Quicken 2007 for Intel!). The link for the download of a full version of Quicken 2006 PPC is:

You chose an old thread to ask your questions. Most members of this forum that have used it, agree that Quicken Essentials is to be avoided.
A fresh new thread might get you more responses to your inquiries about other money programs for the Mac (there are other threads already answering those questions, if you do a search). Here is one:

Do you have Quicken '98 in your library?

Jan 19, 2014 11:36 AM in response to MlchaelLAXby aspalten,Oh, that's fantastic news! Thanks so much - I will download the Lion version right away.
I may very well still have Quicken 98 - do yuo need it? If so, I'll be happy to dig through my stack.
Andrew
PS: Regarding alternatives to Quicken, I have been tinkering around with Moneydance and I think it may fit my needs. I have an issue with importing my Quicken QIF file right now but that might be due to a limitation with the trial version, not the actual program. I'm working on that with the MD customer service guy (very impressive response from their tech service, BTW!). In the short run, I may stick with Q2007Lion, but I'm not optimistic that this is the setup for the future for me. I don't want to build another 5 years of history and then all of sudden, they pull the plug...
PPS: AS you noticed, I did start a new thread also - thanks for cross-refrencing them!
