Q: How to repeat same series of words

Hi,

The older version of numbers allows me to just type the first/second word from another cell and it will show up. saving me a lot of time re-typing the same words.

eg. Order shipped Nov. 13 on cell A2. when I retype "Or" on cell 5 - the rest of the text "Order shipped Nov. 13" shows up so all I have to do is delete 13 and change that to 15 or whatever date.

is that feature still available? I can't seem to find it on Numbers Help.

Any help would be highly appreciated. thank you.

This feature was removed from the current version.  It's listed in the things that are supposed to return in a future release:

    Numbers

    • Customize toolbar
    • Improvements to zoom and window placement
    • Multi-column and range sort
    • Auto-complete text in cells
    • Page headers and footers
    • Improvements to AppleScript support

    Hi Johnny,

Until the feature is renstated, you might take a look at using pop-up menus in these columns. You can, with Numbers 3.0.1, create pop-ups using existing items in a column, Edit exisitng menus more easily than was done in Numbers '09, and copy and paste pop-up menu formats without affecting the current settings of cells into which the menu format is pasted.

    Copy Style (format): option-command-C

    Paste Style (format): option-command-V

    Regards,

    Barry
