New Macbook Air - wifi connectivity problems

Hey guys,

Hope someone can help?

I have a brand new Macbook Air which is able to connect to the internet for just a minute or two before suddenly it drops out. This is even though the signal still shows at full strength and all my other devices are still able to surf the net as per normal.

This device is straight out of the box so no 3rd party applications have been installed. I heard that the wifi has been upgraded to 802.11n on this machine, could that be an issue?

Do i need to return the machine or is there is a software fix for this problem?

Thanks heaps!

Vicky

Connectivity Bug...Don't know yet

If anyone needs my help on installing this newest driver i'll be glad to help, people has been waiting for too long .

Edit 1: It seems to me that Internet browsing at least got a lot smoother, its a works pretty good yet.

This is good news however it does not address the issue that this thread is all about.

This thread is not about latency it is about the wifi on the new MacBook Air disconnecting. Some would say that the latency was caused by trying to solve the disconnection problem.

So do we still have the disconnection problem?

It is certainly driving me crazy. I have a 2010 Macbook Air that works flawlessly but my 2013 Macbook Air is constantly disconnecting.

The Apple "fix" (Mavericks version .45) tries to reconnect but fails just about every time.

This difficulty is further compounded by the mail programme which is constantly losing my passowrds.

So for me Wifi doesn't work properly and Mail doesn't work properly.

I wish I could backgrade to Snow Leopard.

Not happy.

I installed the fix and it is early days yet but I have noticed a major improvement so far with not a single disconnect requiring that I open the diagnostics.

I am in Indonesia and while there are many places here with free wifi services are slow and patchy at the best of times. This situation seriously tests the connectivity of the machine and compounds the problems with the wifi disconnect.

Last night my connection was lightening fast particularly for updating website pages. A breath of fresh air

If this continues Apple will have done a good job. We can only assume it must have been a difficult problem to solve to take so long.

The MacBook Air really is a superb computer.

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the feedback. We've come a long way since I first suggested the driver rollback in this thread, but this seems to be good news finally. I won't personally try it until the official 10.9.2 update is pushed, but I'm slowly gaining back confidence in recommending MacBook Airs to others.

Guys, I'm no IT expert but leaving out the extra 3 digits added to my Speedtouch modem password by the Apple-savvy friends who installed the Speedtouch/Apple Time Capsule combo solved all my horrendous MBA connectivity problems - MBA now connects perfectly to the Time Capsule. I assume the Speedtouch is in bridge mode, but am not sure and hesitate to check. So, if you have a Time Capsule as well as a modem, it may be worth tweaking the parameters a little.

My other Apple devices all connect with no problem using the extended password, but the new MBA did not. Perfect connectivity with the original Speedtouch password, however.

I tried the suggested solution with the kext from the beta and I saw some major improvement. That has been said, it has not totally solved the isse and I have to click on refresh button as if my life depends on it to see a simple webpage regulary. I know that the new beta 3 is out there and I hope that the problem is fully readressed.
