If it works with an external drive then I'm guessing teh superdrive is failing in your Mac. If it is under warranty then take it to an Apple store for repair.

all I wan to know is can a dvd be bburnt to music?

    What does this mean?

    Do you mean:

    1. Can a DVD be "bburnt" with music on it?
    2. Can you bburn a DVD while you play music? I assume this is so you can have a nice cheerful atmosphere. Maybe so you can dance around while you bburn the DVD.

    Yes to both!

    1. make a playlist in iTunes
    2. right click or control click on the name of the playlist in the Playlists column on the left. Select Burn Playlist to Disk
    3. in the Burn Settings window that pops up, select Data CD or DVD for Disk Format

    Several possibilities:

    1. that particular disk is faulty
    2. that brand of blank DVD will not work with your burner. Burners can be finicky.
    3. there was just an error with the burning.

I'd try again with a new disk. If that doesn't work, I'd try another brand of disk.
