installing tiger on a formatted disk

this is how it is, the hard-drive on my PC wasn't working so I took the 120 gb disk from the old G4 and used it for some time, then after updating said pc, I was able to recover the original disk, and now I want to put the 120 gb disk back on the G4, I have it formatted for mac, and I've tried several cds and dvds with installers holding the letter C down, nothing's happened, I have a new mac with the possibility of using the disk as an external hard drive, what do I need to do to install the tiger system back on this G4? thank you...
