Jan 23, 2014 8:10 AM in response to dsm67by turingtest2,Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable." Should I go ahead and continue to remove the other ones anyway, again, following that order, or is there going to be something wrong when I try to un-install those, as well? Totally understand if you have no idea. Thank you for your response, though.

Jan 23, 2014 12:39 PM in response to turingtest2by SpyglassSally,I had the exact same problem as dsm67, additionally getting Visual C++ and AppleSyncNotifier.exe Entry Point Not Found errors. I tried uninstalling iTunes as suggested, but was unable to do that either.
The only way I got though it (took me hours to figure this out) was first to
- do a system restore to prior to iTunes trying to do the update, then
- I could follow turingtest2's instructions and actually uninstall the programs (although I did still get a Visual C++ R6034 error during the process).
- I then rebooted, ran the new iTunes install file as admin and it went smoothly except, when rebooting, for an AppleSyncNotifier.exe not found error which I fixed by
- copying libxml2.dll and SQLite3.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
If you're not running 64 bit Windows, I think the above path will work without the (x86) part.
What a mess this was! I'm glad I finally seem to be up and running okay now - rebooting without errors and iTunes opens fine.
Hope this is helpful to someone else.

I had re-installed iTunes earlier this morning (somehow allowed me to do that), and then trying the copy and paste with what you said, and still nothing. Looks like I have to try a different approach. Again, thank you for your help regardless, it means a lot.

Jan 23, 2014 2:36 PM in response to SpyglassSallyby dsm67,Those are the exact errors I'm recieving, as well! As much as I'm afriad of a "system restore" up until that point, it looks like it's my only option at this point. Thank you for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it all goes down.

My iTunes now works fine and I haven't had a problem since. Again, thanks for your contributions. It really helped a lot.

Feb 2, 2014 9:10 PM in response to turingtest2by ratska,I tried to uninstall iTunes but I get an error message telling me I'm not the administrator on my PC!
How do I become the administrator? I tried to find information online but the suggestions don't tell me how to login to the administrator account, just how to use programs to reset the password. I don't know how to get to the page where I enter the password for the administrator account, if there even is a password.
