Jan 24, 2014 3:10 AM in response to Scorebox8by Paul_31,Don't be concerned that Mavericks is listed in your Purchases to Download after you've apparently downloaded it. Mine says, the same even though I downloaded and installed Mavericks some time ago - it remains there should you need to download it again in the future.
Does the following not appear to be the case on your Mac?
What should happen is that it downloads to your Applications folder as a file called 'Install OS X Mavericks' (or similar). Normally after download you are automatically presented with the installer screen to run by clicking on the 'install' button. On successful installation the installer file self-deletes from the Applications folder, so it's a good idea to make a copy of the 5.3gb installer file before running it as it may save another huge download later.
Check to see if you have the installer in Applications. Also if you go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac, what version of OSX does it say you are running?
What is X11: https://support.apple.com/kb/ht5293 (you can probably ignore it, but I don't think you can delete it).

Jan 24, 2014 3:47 AM in response to Paul_31by Scorebox8,I have checked the version of my mac and it says OSX version 10.9.1. Also the OS X mavericks shows in my App on purchases but it says download and not installed. How do I make copies of 5.3gb and where would I find these files.

Jan 24, 2014 3:55 AM in response to Scorebox8by Paul_31,Not sure why you are getting the message, but if you're running Mac OS X version 10.9.1 you are running the latest version of Mavericks.
If you go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac and click on the line 'Version 10.9.1' it should give you a build number. What does it say?
What Mac are you running - apparently some of the very new Macs have there own special build of OS X which may explain the confusion.

Jan 24, 2014 5:31 AM in response to Scorebox8by Paul_31,★HelpfulBy 'what Mac are you running', I meant which actual computer do you have. I saw iMac in your profile, but wondered if you had one of the new MacBook Pro's - I think they have their own special build.
Anyway, Build 13B42 is the latest 'normal' version of OS X - you are up-to-date - so I think you can ignore any messages the Purchases tab is showing. But it's there and available to you if you do decide to re-download it at some point and back it up somewhere.

Jan 24, 2014 6:30 AM in response to Paul_31by Scorebox8,Paul,
Thankyou for all your help and support and I am sorry if I seemed dim on a couple of occassions when answering a question you ask me. Am a new iMac learner.......... From you comments I understand that it does not matter that mavericks does not down load? and it will not affect the mac in any way.
A BIG thankyou for your support.
