Jan 24, 2014 5:00 AM in response to bukkkoby bukkko,Hmm scratch that - it was working but now I get
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
followed by
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)"

Jan 24, 2014 5:46 AM in response to bukkkoby turingtest2,Reinstalling iTunes or running its repair process alone won't resolve the problem. You need to work through the following process...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. Some users may need to follow all the steps in the appropriate support document which includes some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Jan 24, 2014 6:31 AM in response to turingtest2by bukkko,It worked - huge thanks!
What is the problem anyway? Is there a bug in the update?

Jan 24, 2014 6:36 AM in response to bukkkoby turingtest2,You're welcome. It would seem there is some sort of issue with the installer for some people but it isn't causing a problem for everyone so isolating the exact cause might be tricky. Thankfully that isn't my headache!

Jan 24, 2014 8:36 AM in response to turingtest2by EGWNX01,Thank you for this information. My iTunes had this update problem this morning on my Windows 7 machine. I had one problem, Apple Mobile Device Support refused to uninstall using the normal Windows Unistall program so I ended up using CCleaner to remove it. After that I was able to follow through and get iTunes installed and running again.
Thank you again for the useful information!

Jan 24, 2014 9:10 AM in response to billmareby turingtest2,See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash. Either your library was updated by iTunes 11.1.1.4.62 so you need to revert to the older one as is required after a downgrade, or some other issue has caused a problem with the library. Alternatively try upgrading to the current build again.

Jan 24, 2014 9:11 AM in response to Miztee7by JAT7756,I have the same issue. Most of the music on my ipod is from my CD collection. Does anyone know if I follow tt2's instructions will they all delete??
I don't want to reload 340 CD's.
Thanks!

Jan 24, 2014 9:11 AM in response to JAT7756by turingtest2,The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
