Q: Changed a file from .avi to .mp4 using the 'get info' method, but it won't play in quicktime or on iTunes.

I changed a file from .avi to .mp4 with the 'get info' in the document menu. It won't play in quicktime or itunes but when i do it says i've got the wrong type of file, anyone know how to fix it?

    Change it back to .avi.  AVI is its own compression method that has nothing to do with mp4.   If you want convert it, and you have video that isn't copyrighted, you might try http://www.flip4mac.com/ or Mpegstreamclip, or any of a number of other Mac video conversion software.  You can usually play it back with http://www.videolan.org/ and if it isn't copyrighted, do a video capture of that with SnapZ Pro.  If it is copyrighted, sorry, we can't discuss how to convert it, as it likely has DRM to mess with it and this forum doesn't allow discussing the breaking of DRMs.
