Q: iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7.  My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access.  However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services.  If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first.  But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now.  Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

    Works perfectly as per gilsonmelo.

    Just a clarification. The file is located at System Files\HomeDomain\Library\Preferences for iOS 7.0.4

    This absolutely worked for me.

    One Major Note: When you RESTORE, you are restoring from iTunes using your most recent Backup. iTunes is unaware that we edited the backup file as gilsonmelo noted, but you DO NOT want to restore using iBackupBot; I had it hang/crash too often when I realized we need to Restore from iTunes. This has helped me tremendously.. Now if I could just figure out why my Siri only works (can hear me) when I'm using a headset vs talking directly to the phone.. Anyone know?

    Mine was 0000 - maybe that's the generic code?  I don't remember setting it.

    I'm trying to wipe my old 4s after upgrading so have no sim and was locked out with this stupid passcode and unable to locate through icloud..  I have reset the 4s through ITunes and now I can't go into the 4s because a sim is required.. so does that mean my 4s has been successfully wiped and I can now sell it without worry about the buyer getting my info?  Sorry I'm pretty clueless with this.

    Hello Gilson,

    I tried all this on my Iphone 7.0.4 but didnt work.

    I had restricted my facetime and now the restriction code wont work.  here is my spring plist info.

    <key>SBParentalControlsBlockTimeIntervalSinceReferenceDate</key>

              <real>411706655.42461699</real>

              <key>SBParentalControlsBlocked</key>

              <false/>

              <key>SBParentalControlsEnabled</key>

              <true/>

              <key>SBParentalControlsFailedAttempts</key>

              <integer>25</integer>

              <key>SBParentalControlsMCContentRestrictions</key>

              <dict>

                        <key>countryCode</key>

                        <string>us</string>

              </dict>

              <key>SBPrototypeSettingsNeedsMigration</key>

              <true/>

              <key>SBRecentDisplays</key>

              <array>

    I tried different passcodes and now its asking me to wait 1440 minutes. I did try the date and time tip and kept trying new codes but no luck.

    additionally, I tried changing the restrictionpassword plist from another post by MillValleyiMacG5.

    Making the following changes (in bold) to the restrictedpassword.plist changed my key to 1234:

    ...

    <dict>

         <key>RestrictionsPasswordKey</key>

         <data>

         IxxWEBikzuZi33zUqCBnAcWAavk=

         </data>

         <key>RestrictionsPasswordSalt</key>

         <data>

         aSbUXg==

         </data>

    </dict>

    This must be repetitive but can you please guide me on this as well. Many thanks.

    Mina

    Thank you.

    Th recovery procedure using iBackupBot worked for me.  One change I had to make was I had:

    <key>SBParentalControlsBlocked</key>

              <false/>

              <key>SBParentalControlsEnabled</key>

              <true/>

    To use the solution that worked for everyone else, I removed:

    <key>SBParentalControlsBlocked</key>

      <false/>

    So happy for this post...i tried "re-remembering" my passcode 37 times until I found this post.

    Hi there,

    I had the same problem everyone here seems to be having. I did exactly as you instructed only now my device can't be activated. It says :"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support"

    When I connect the phone to the laptop it doesn't help. iTunes says the sim is pin blocked and I have to unblock it before proceeding. I can't even get the phone far enough in the procedure to enter the pin code.

    I can get hold of Apple because everything on their website is contactable through the phone.

    I need help here. This is a very expensive paperweight!

    you can put it in recovery mode then get out of it then it will reactivate.

    ( HOW TO PUT YOUR PHONE INRECOVERY MODE: first hold your home button and power button then when the apple icon let go then when the connect to itunes sign come hold the home button and power button again then it will reactivate)
