Jan 25, 2014 6:56 PM in response to penelope184by rjmacpherson,ITunes tried to automatically update today and failed and then I was also getting the MSVCR80.dll error
After trying many things I finally removed all Apple software
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
I was then able to finally successfully install the latest version of iTunes and the software installed correctly and the error went away.
I hope this works for you as well.

Jan 26, 2014 4:22 AM in response to penelope184by brettboykin,I have had this same problem and error message msvcr80, I have done multiple re-installs and what appeared to be a successful install was not, and continued to not open and gives that same error message.
What is going on??
If we are having the same problems in the US and UK, there must be something happening.
Does anyone know how to fix this, help!!

Jan 26, 2014 4:31 AM in response to brettboykinby DerekM16,I followed one of the threads to delete all of the Apple software on my Win7 x64 machine. I then re-booted my PC and started a completely fresh iTunes install, having de-selected the option to look for updates automatically! It worked fine.
I was worried like some other people about my iTunes library, so I re-named the iTunes folder before deleting all the Apple Apps, and then having re-installed and checked that everything worked apart from a blank music selection in iTunes I then deleted the new iTunes folder and re-named my old folder back to iTunes.
Everything is now fine.

Jan 26, 2014 5:42 AM in response to DerekM16by brettboykin,Thanks for your help, it worked like a charm and my entire music library is intact, that is always my worst fear is losing my library..lately U am always weary of updating because of other issues similar to this.
Cheers

Jan 26, 2014 7:23 AM in response to penelope184by rjmacpherson,No deleting or renaming of the iTunes folder was required on my system to get rid of the dreaded MSVCR80.dll error.
I only deleted ALL of the Apple applications that I mentioned earlier, didn't reboot, manually installed the latest version of iTunes and all was good again. My iTunes library was just like it was before the automatic upgrade toasted my system.
BTW, I know for sure that is was the automatic install that caused the problem because after trying many things and not being able to get rid of the MSVCR80.dll error I resorted to doing a checkpoint restore and iTunes was working again. Then the Apple automatic upgrade did it's thing again and failed and left me in the MSVCR80.dll error state again.

Jan 26, 2014 8:06 AM in response to penelope184by CreativeOne,Removing all the applications worked well for me. I added on using CCleaner to clean the registry of iTunes entries and any temp files. I did not make a copy of the iTunes folder since I already have one, and it worked fine for me. Never hurts to have a backup copy though.

Jan 26, 2014 8:18 AM in response to CreativeOneby Caper60,Tried downloading the offline install version of iTunes, after repeated failures running the update this morning. Can't seem to find the update to download it ( https://secure-appldnld.apple.com/iTunes64Setup.exe ) - "File not found". Looks like Apple have pulled the update ? In the meantime, my iTunes install on Win7 Pro 64-bitis trashed. Tried doing a repair install, but that failed too. Looking to see if I saved an older iTunes installation file somewhere.

Jan 26, 2014 9:04 AM in response to Caper60by rjmacpherson,You might have a copy in your Browsers download folder?
-
Jan 26, 2014 9:04 AM in response to Caper60by DerekM16,Try de-installing all Apple Apps through Control Panel, Re-boot for good measure to make sure everything is cleared up, then download the full iTunes installation for new.
Your iTunes folder in My Music should be untouched, but I always take a backup copy, or re-name it just so that I am doubly sure de-installing iTunes won't do any damage.

Jan 26, 2014 12:21 PM in response to rjmacphersonby JoWalker,Thanks for this advice, however, I did have to use IObit's power uninstaller to totally get rid of all the files you mentioned because using my computer's uninstaller didn't work, and the power uninstaller found loads of files still left on the computer.
Didn't need to back up the music library, it's fine. Thanks again!

Jan 26, 2014 12:38 PM in response to penelope184by bellabehave125,I've had the same issues and it's consumed the better part of my day between uninstalling and reinstalling itunes over and over -- it will not work no matter what I try I still keep getting the error I got the MSVR80.dll fixed and now I keep getting the M6054 error. No matter what I do, I cannot install itunes without getting this error and have tried as administrator as well. NOT HAPPY.

Jan 26, 2014 12:49 PM in response to penelope184by LeisaBC,My PC is running Windows 7 so I went in to 'add/remove' programs and deleted absolutely everything APPLE with the exception of iCloud for some reason that wouldn't delete. Anyway then I did a total shut down and reboot and tried to re-install from the Apple website and so far it seems to be working for me so with any luck deleting all the old files was all that was needed. Kind of a pain in the neck but it just might work for you, good luck!
